Sidewalk Campaign City Reports/Ordinances
Neighborhood councils regard sidewalk repairs as a quality of life issue.
These charts show how different regions of the city responded to the questions regarding what the City should do to fix the mammoth backlog of broken sidewalks. Citywide, 6% of those surveyed wanted to fund repairs by cutting back on other services; 19% supported requiring homeowners to share the cost; 37% supported charging a fee on all properties; and 38% wanted to continue the current funding level.read more
City Task Force Recommends Point of Sale Tactic
Despite zero evidence that widespread public hazards will be eliminated, a task force convened by the Bureau of Street Services at the behest of the Los Angeles City Council has issue its initial report urging the city adopt an ordinance requiring the broken sidewalks be fixed when a home is sold.read more
